50th Anniversary of Freedom Summer

This summer will mark the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer, that time in our history when young people of conviction travelled to Mississippi to try to make a difference.  Three of those young people - James Chaney, Michael Schwerner, and Andrew Goodman - died for their convictions.  My play, MERIDIAN SUMMER, tells the story of that time through the eyes of folks whose entire lives were marked by the oppression or the privilege of racism that existed in Meridian, Mississippi in 1964.  You can download and read the play on my PLAYS page.  I'd love to see productions and/or readings of the play all over the country this summer.  If you have an idea for a place to contact, please let me know.  Thanks. Candace
